Treasures of Truth
3 New Birth
God’s Promise . . .
Moreover, I will give you a new heart
and put a new spirit within you;
and I will remove the heart of stone
from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
And I will put My spirit within you
and cause you to walk in My statutes,
and you will be careful
to do my ordinances... Ezekiel 36:26-27
He sent His Son . . .
For God so loved the world,
that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him
should not perish,
but have eternal life. John 3:16
For if while we were enemies,
we were reconciled to God
through the death of His Son,
much more, having been reconciled,
we shall be saved by His life. Romans 5:10
Jesus said, “You must be born again.” John 3:7
At the Cross of Christ . . .
We are taken out of Adam and placed into Christ.
Our old self was crucified with Christ. Romans 6:6
When Christ died, we died. Galatians 2:20
When He was buried, we were buried. Colossians 2:12
But, He didn’t leave us there . . .
As a new creation,
He raised us up with Him,
and seated us with Him in the heavenly places,
in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:6
We become people we never were before . . .
New Birth: Regeneration Red Sea - Salvation
But as many as received Him,
to them He gave the right to become the children of God,
even to those who believe in His name. John 1:12
I came that they may have life. John 10:10
The spirit is the highest center of operation.
As spiritual people,
we are also partakers of the divine nature. II Peter 1:4
That which is born of the flesh is flesh,
and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
However, the spiritual is not first,
but the natural; then the spiritual. John 3:6; I Corinthians 15:46
Regeneration is the spiritual change
wrought in man by the Holy Spirit,
by which he becomes the possessor of a new life.
It is to be distinguished from justification,
because justification is
a change in our relationship to God,
while regeneration is a change
in our moral and spiritual nature.
Regeneration is also to be distinguished
from sanctification,
inasmuch as the latter is the work of God
in developing the new life
and bringing it to perfection,
while the former is
the beginning of that life. (Unger’s Bible Dictionary )
As we understand
who we have become in Christ,
we learn to walk after the Spirit:
Now that we have looked at
who we have become as a new creation,
let’s look at all that we possess
the instant we are born again . . .
all we need for life and godliness . . .
Our Present Possessions...
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who has blessed us with
every spiritual blessing
in the heavenly places
in Christ. Ephesians 1:3
In God’s eternal plan,
predestined, reconciled, redeemed,
freed from judgment, cleansed,
joined in Christ
and identified with Him
in the crucifixion of the old man,
enabled to walk anew,
freedom from the curse of the law,
made children of God, adopted,
made acceptable, justified,
forgiven all trespasses, made right,
delivered from powers of darkness,
translated into the kingdom of His dear Son,
partakers of a holy priesthood,
the chosen generation and called out people,
access to God, God’s inheritance,
are associated with Christ in a heavenly citizenship,
light in the Lord,
vitally and eternally united to
the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
(find these in Ephesians 1)
“I pray the eyes of your understanding
being enlightened;
that you may know
what is the hope of His calling,
what are the riches of
the glory of His inheritance
in the saints...” Ephesians 1:18
